How to Verify a Phosphate Supplier from China

China is the world's largest source of phosphate chemicals, and most suppliers are legitimate — but offers vary widely in what stands behind them. This checklist shows how buyers verify a phosphate supplier before larger orders, and what to ask for at each step.

1. Check the Company Behind the Offer

Confirm the supplier is a registered company with a verifiable address, a consistent company name across documents, website and bank details, and a product range that matches its claimed business. 2. Read the COA Carefully

Ask for a recent certificate of analysis for the exact product and grade, and check that the tested items match the specification you agreed — for example assay and P₂O₅ for STPP, or fluorine limits for feed phosphates. A COA that lists only the headline number, or one that never changes between lots, deserves questions.

3. Confirm the Supply Source

Ask where the product is produced and which supply line it comes from. Our own model is open about this: product is supplied either from our partner bases (blended phosphates customized to specification) or by branded producer sourcing from large established brands with original factory documents. A supplier should be able to explain its source just as plainly.

4. Samples and Third-Party Inspection

For new relationships, test a sample against your application before bulk orders, and for larger shipments consider pre-shipment inspection by an organization such as SGS or BV, with the cost and scope agreed in advance.

5. Red Flags

Prices far below the market with no explanation, reluctance to share a COA or company documents, pressure for full prepayment to a personal account, and specifications that shift between the offer and the contract are all reasons to slow down. Transparent suppliers state the product, grade, specification and source on the quotation itself.
